Tiffany Meets John Asher!




Tiffany, aka "BITEME" from the Weird Science IRC chats, recently went to California for a vacation. While there, her father had arranged for a magazine interview with John Mallory Asher, the actor that plays Gary Wallace on USA's tremendous hit, "Weird Science". Actually, tremendous hit is probably a bit of an under-exaggeration. :-) Being another super-fan of the show, Tiffany was present as well. Here's the story in Tif's own words:

First of all when I was getting ready to meet John I was REALLY nervous as any fan would be. My parents knew this and they conveniently arranged it so that I had to sit right next to him. (How nice of them huh?! :-) John came in and shook our hands and all that stuff and then sat down about 6 inches from me. I couldn't believe it! My dad told John that I was nervous about meeting him because I was a big Weird Science fan and he said, "Aww your not nervous about meeting me! I'm a dork, I play one on TV for Christ's sakes!" and then playfully hit me in the arm. Lol! So then we started the interview.

We found out that John is writing and directing his own movie, sort of an independent film but that was all he would tell us. So, my dad being a reporter kept giving John questions that would trick him into slipping up and telling us something about his new film. Needless to say it didn't work and John turned to me and said, "He's a sneaky little bastard isn't he!" Lol! Also John had said something to my mom earlier that week about having to go to a reading for a new series. When we mentioned that at the interview he said that was just an audition and he couldn't talk about that either. The he turned to my mom and said, "Trouble maker!!!" and started laughing.

After the interview was over we exchanged e-mail addresses and I mentioned about our chat room. John then asked, without me saying anything else, about how he could get into the chat room! I explained it to him and he said he would try to download the software and join some week. (Although I thought he looked confused about the process. That is why we've been e-mailing each other and trying to get his computer downloaded with the software.)

Then John gave us his autograph and my parents asked John if they could get some pictures of him and I. John said, "Sure! Come over here Baby, let's get this thing done here! Come over here babe!" Then he scooted over by me, pulled me up against him almost on his lap so I was leaning against him, put his arm around me, put one of his legs over my lap, and took pictures with me. So there I was taking pictures with Gary Wallace~ I wanted to die! Lol!

Then we all sat and talked for a little while. John looked at me and asked how old I was. I said 13 and he said, "How come all the girls around that like me are 13 to 16. I could get into a lot of trouble! Are there any girls my age in your chat room?" then he said, "When she gets a little older she's going to be trouble!" My parents said, "Oh no, she's a straight A student." and he said, "I didn't say ANYTHING about grades I said she was going to be TROUBLE!" I wanted to crawl under the couch! Then he asked, "Does anyone in the chat room ever talk about me?" I said yeah and he said, "Yeah right, no body likes me. No body loves me!" Then we started talking about how there was like 3 or 4 girls in the chat room who like Michael (not mentioning any names) and John said, "Personally I think I look better then Manasseri!" Then we told him about how there was one girl in the room who liked Michael (we didn't say who) and we told him about how she was saying she would like to be with Michael and how we told her if she was, Michael would get arrested. We told him then about how the girl had said, "Not arrested, just satisfied" and he started laughing and said, "Yeah, I bet!"

Then John had mentioned that he needed to find an ATM machine. (I wanted to start laughing because I was thinking Automated Time Machine from the show) Then he got up and we exchanged phone numbers, addresses, etc and we said good bye. John also told us that as soon as he finished his movie he wanted to do another interview. (I was all "YES!") John left then and as soon as he was gone I went into shock! I acted very professional in front of him but now that he was gone I could freak!"
